I have some solutions. We must all apply them. We must act as lonely soldiers trying to save people. That is a national duty valid for every country. I think this guy tells the same thing as other homeless people. In my youth time I was friend with some homeless and trying to open a way to them. I was not experienced so I could tell less than today. But now I know a bit more; here are some strategies for them;
1- Read the book "street cat named Bob" . It is a real story of a drug addicted young guy who changed his path of life. You'll see in the book that most of homeless have just lost their way, and simple grip to life like a " cat" can make them turn back to life. I mean it: read this book!
2-Homeless people don't need talks, but actions: look to their eyes when speaking to them, spend a little time with them. There is a wonderful film with Robin Williams about them "Fisher King". The meaning of life is in friendship, in helping, in listening, in taking action.
3-Most of homeless forget they have a know-how; or unbelieve to themselves, or think that when you don't have a family or a job human existence is nothing. They don't know the works of the associations or other human aid actions. Let them know it, go to that association learn what you can do. There are lot to learn and to do.
4-Bruce Springsteen in his song "philadelphia" pointed to the greatest problem of homeless people. As the homeless people has risen up to thousands, shall we call it a national disaster? Remember betweem two world wars economical crisis has feeded the roots of second world war. So this is a serious problem. Then we must treat it as a case of emergency and take actions in organised way.
5-Remember in war times the strongest thing that could hold a nation's hope to future is its civil defense strength. Civil defense is based on volunteer work. It requires volunteers to get an education on actuons types, it requires them to get specialised, to work on team, and to have a team leader.
There is allways a way when you have a will. Let's help them, let's help our society!
